Vaccinations

Just Say the Word, We Can Do it!

Vaccines are a vital part of keeping healthy individually and as a wider community. Vaccination has significantly contributed to the prevention and control of infectious diseases in Canada and worldwide. Immunization is not just for children; Adults often are recommended vaccines to protect against HPV, hepatitis A/B, influenza, tetanus,  and pneumonia among others. Please speak with our pharmacists for specific advice on your vaccination recommendations

Pneumonia

Pneumonia vaccination is recommended for all patients 65 and older. Patients who are at increased risk for pneumonia (smokers, chronic kidney disease, immunocompromised, etc.) are recommended the vaccine regardless of age

Hepatitis A/B Havrix/Twinrix/Engerix

Hepatitis A & B are lifelong diseases with no effective treatment. They can be easily prevented by receiving the Twinrix combination vaccine.

Shingles

Shingles is a very painful condition that principally affects patients older than 50 years. The new Shingles vaccine is over 90% effective at preventing this disease

HPV

Human Papilloma Viruses (HPV) are the most common sexually transmitted diseases and can give rise to cervical cancer as well as anogenital warts. The Gardisal vaccine is 99% effective in preventing transmission of this disease.

Influenza

The annual flu vaccine is recommended for all patients regardless of age. Influenza is still a cause of many deaths and hospitalizations and vaccination protects both the patient and the wider community.
